The Danger of Cherry Picking

Cherry picking is great for fruit salads, not so much for arguments.

Have you ever heard the phrase "cherry picking"? It's a term used to describe the act of selectively choosing only the things that we like or agree, while ignoring the rest. When it comes to the fruits of the Bible, it's easy to cherry pick the ones that bring us the most comfort and happiness. For me, peace is my favorite, followed by joy, hope, love, faithfulness, and kindness. However, it's important to remember that the fruits we may not like as much, such as Long Suffering, are just as crucial to our spiritual growth. In fact, it's often the fruit that we need the most. Without love, we have hate. Without joy, we have sorrow. So, what is love, and why is it so important? Let's dive deeper into this essential fruit of the Bible.

Love that comes from the heart is a powerful force that can move mountains. People who truly love are able to forgive, and forgiveness is a superpower that can heal even the deepest wounds. Love is not just about saying "I love you", it is about showing it through your actions and being there for the people you care about, no matter what. Unconditional love is like the love of a family pet. They may get upset with you, but they always forgive and forget, and are always there to greet you with wagging tails and unconditional love.

Joy is an essential ingredient for a happy and healthy life. It is especially for families, as it helps to create positive memories that can carry them through tough times. For example, a family that goes on vacation together builds memories that they can look back on and, even when things get difficult. On the other hand, a family that never takes time to enjoy life together may struggle to find the strength to overcome challenges. Joyful people are often seen as cheerful, effervescent, and humorous, and their positive energy can be contagious, spreading happiness to those around them.

Hope is a powerful force that can help us overcome even the difficult challenges. When we believe in ourselves and our ability to succeed, we can achieve great things. Take the example of Mama Dodie, Joel Osteen's mother, who was diagnosed with cancer and given limited time to live. Despite the doctor's prognosis, she refused to give up hope and instead chose to believe that she would survive. And she did thrive. Our thoughts have a powerful impact on our lives, and when we think and believe in ourselves, we can achieve anything we set our minds to. So, think big, believe in yourself, and never give up hope.

Faithfulness and kindness are two essential qualities that can help us navigate through life's challenges. Being faithful means being loyal and trustworthy, and it is something that everyone desires in their relationships. No one wants a spouse who cheats on them, and being faithful to the end is a sign of true love and commitment. Kindness, on the other hand, is often harder to practice, especially in the face of adversity. It means being nice to people even when they don't deserve it, and showing it to those who may not be you. Being kind is a sign of maturity and shows that you are able to rise above petty conflicts and treat others with compassion and understanding. So, be faithful to those you love, and always strive to be kind, even in the face of adversity.

In conclusion, I want to express my gratitude for taking the time to read this blog. As we have discussed, there is only one God and one Satan, and it is up to us to choose which one we follow. While suffering is an inevitable part of life, we can find hope and strength in our faith and trust in God. Remember that all things work together for the good of those who believe God, and all things bad for those who do not. Consecrating to Him, and see for yourself how your life changes. So let us choose to follow the path of light and love. Thank you again for reading to the end.
