Want Success? You NEED the Favor of God! (Lake Forrest Church Sunday Message

Updated: 5 days ago

Railroad track going in two different directions

Hey everyone! What's the key to REAL success? Some people think it's all about networking, schmoozing, and calling in favors from the right people. In the world, being someone's "favorite" might mean getting preferential treatment, maybe even cutting in line. But let's be honest, that kind of "success" is fleeting and often built on shaky ground.

This  Sunday at Lake Forrest Church, Pastor Princess is dropping some serious truth on us about where TRUE success comes from: the favor of God! And trust me, it's on a whole different level than anything the world can offer.

The World vs. The Divine: Whose Favor Do You Want?

Think about it. On one hand, you could chase after being "the devil's favorite." But what does that actually look like? It's a life plagued by destruction, death (metaphorical and sometimes literal), constant drama, and the kind of gossip and slander that sticks to you like glue, damaging your reputation. Yikes! The devil's "favorites" are often the ones struggling the most, caught in cycles of negativity with no real turnaround.

On the other hand, you could seek the favor of the Almighty. This is where the game changes!

Why You Need God's Favor (Seriously!)

Being "highly favored" by God isn't about being exempt from challenges. It's about having His hand on your life, guiding you, protecting you, and opening doors that no one else can. It's about walking in purpose and experiencing a joy that surpasses understanding.

Need some biblical proof? Let's check it out:

Proverbs 12:2: "Good people obtain favor from the LORD, but he condemns those who devise wicked schemes. A good man obtains favor from the Lord, But a man of wicked intentions He will condemn." This shows that living righteously opens the door to God's favor. It's not about perfection, but about aligning our hearts with His will.
  • Proverbs 3:4: "Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man." This verse highlights the double blessing: God's favor AND a good reputation. When God is with you, people will recognize the light in you.

  • Acts 7:10: Stephen reminds us how God "rescued him from all his afflictions, and granted him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and he made him governor over Egypt and all his household." God uses even the toughest situations to showcase His power and elevate those who trust in Him.

  • Luke 1:30-31: "And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus." Mary’s story is the ultimate example. Because of God’s favor through her, the world received it's greatest gift.

How Do We Get God's Favor?

It's not about earning it! It's about:

  • Seeking Him: Make an effort to connect with God through prayer, reading the Bible, and fellowship with other believers.

  • Obedience: Strive to live according to His principles, even when it's difficult.

  • Humility: Recognize that everything good in your life comes from Him.

  • Faith: Trust that He has a plan for your life, even when you can't see it.
